Lakewood Elementary School is dedicated in honor of Poley Parker for his 32 years of dedicated leadership and commitment to the youth of Tomball Independent School District as Superintendent of Schools, Vocational Director and Vocational Teacher. (Dedication, October 1983)

Lakewood Elementary School is located in northwest Houston at the southern end of the Tomball Independent School District. The current population of over 770 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth grade is supported with a staff of 80 members.

Our school opened in 1983 with Mr. Jim Boyle, as principal. Mr. Bob Fontenot was principal from 1984-1990. Mr. Darrell McReynolds was principal from 1990-95. Mrs. Valerie Petrzelka was principal from 1995-2008. Mrs. Holly Jones was principal from 2008-2012.  Mr. Royce (Daron) Aston was principal from 2012-2015. Mrs. Deanna Porter became the principal in 2015.

All grade levels instruct the students in the areas of Language Arts (Reading, Language, Handwriting, Spelling), Mathematics, Social Studies, and Science. Students also receive instruction in Music, Physical Education, Art, and Technology.   Students also participate in regularly scheduled visits to the Library.

School T-shirts are available through the PTO.
School Colors and Mascot
The school colors for Lakewood are blue and white. The school mascot is the wildcat.  Each Friday is spirit day and students and staff are encouraged to wear blue and white or the school t-shirt. (Lakewood
t-shirts are available through our PTO.)

Report Cards
Report cards are distributed each nine weeks.  Pre-K and Kindergarten reports are in checklist profile format. All other grades report cards include numerical grades in the basic subject area.
A weekly electronic school newsletter will be distributed through a collaborative
effort of the Lakewood staff and PTO. 
Bus Transportation
Transportation is provided by the Tomball Independent School District. For busing information, please call 281-357-3193 or check the TISD website.

Car Riders
Students being transported to school are to arrive in the front drive area between 8:10 am and 8:30 am.

Inclement Weather & Disasters
