Weekly Update Sept. 10-14

Parents,

Thank you to everyone that took time out of your busy lives to attend our Parent Night at Lakewood.  We appreciate your support!

Your children are doing an amazing job learning expectations and procedures.  We are ready to really dig into lessons for reading and writing.  Here is our week at a glance:

Reading - This week we will begin working on plot (characters, setting, problem, solution, etc.)  Also, we are reading a novel called Mick Harte was Here by Barbara Park.  Ask your child about it.  It has a powerful message!

Writing - We have been generating ideas, and we will begin writing timelines to work on personal narratives.

Social Studies - Each table group has a large Texas map.  They are dividing into the four regions (Mountains/Basins, Central Plains, High Plains, and Gulf Coastal Plains).  Then they will label it and add a major city.  We will work on this project throughout the year.

Planners are up and running in Google Classroom.  If you aren't sure how to use Google Classroom, there is a tab on my home page. Also, students should know their username and password.  For all new students, it is written in their planners.
