Good afternoon, parents!
I hope this email finds you well! I am very excited to let you know that I sent our first scholastic book order for the year home last week in STAR folders! Kids love scholastic because we always open the box together like a present every month :) Each month I also purchase books for our classroom library, so we all love book box day! Please consider purchasing a book or two for your child this month. Each purchase also earns points for me to use to buy books and learning resources for our class.
Please place your online order by Thursday, September 28, 2017.
How to order:
Go online to: scholastic.com/newparent
Look up my name: Samantha Needham
Or enter our Class Code: Q9DQ9
Follow the instructions to place your order online by: September 28!
If you have any questions, or the site gives you trouble, please let me know!
Have a great week! :)
Spelling: September 18 - September 22
Here is our list of spelling words for this week. Our spelling pattern is a continuation of short vowels, but with a twist! We are following the "FLOSS" rule, where our words must end in a short vowel, followed by a double consonant. We discussed our rule today and did a great job brainstorming words that fit our pattern.
These are the words that will be on our spelling test this Friday, plus 4 challenge words that follow the same pattern. Study hard!
I look forward to seeing all of my sweet second graders tomorrow! I hope that you and your family are safe and dry. If you need anything, please let me know and I am more than happy to help you in any way that I can!
Students will have transportation bands put on tomorrow through Thursday to make sure everyone gets home safely. Please send a note if you are changing your child’s transportation! This week will be spent working on routines and getting students back into the groove!
Also, tomorrow is Tomball Strong, Houston Proud Tuesday! Your kiddos are invited to wear any type of Tomball or Texas t-shirt to show our compassion, unity, and strength through last week's challenging events. If your child does not have a Tomball or Texas shirt, they can wear red, white, or blue!
Parent-Teacher Orientation will be rescheduled and I will get that date to you as soon as it is announced!
Have a restful night!
