Hi, my name is Joan Heinrich and I am so excited to be beginning my 7th year teaching music at Lakewood Elementary. I can’t wait to start making music with all of the students at LES. Before teaching at LES, I taught Pre-K (for 3 years) and Pre-K music (for 7 years) at Blessed Beginnings, Prince of Peace’s Mother’s Day Out and Preschool. During this time I also directed our church’s Angel Choir. This choir was composed of children ages Kindergarten – 8th grade. Before working at my church, I taught Pre-K at Epps Island in Klein ISD. I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with an Interdisciplinary Studies degree focusing on Early Childhood and a minor in Music Education. I attended the University of Houston’s Kodaly Institute and received my certificate in August of 2015. I have been a cantor at my church for many years serving at Masses, funerals and weddings. In the past I have been the VBS music team leader and have served as our Sonshine Days summer program’s music team leader for 15 years. Music is such an important part of my life and I am honored to have the opportunity to share my love of music with the children of LES.
When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my friends and family. I have been blessed with a wonderful husband, Dave, and 4 beautiful girls. Allison is starting her 4th year at U of H, Michelle is a sophomore at UT in Austin, Claire is a senior at TMHS and Teresa is a 8th grader at WWJH.
I look forward to meeting all new students to LES and seeing all returning students.
