Welcome to First Grade!
This is my first year at Lakewood Elementary and I am so excited to be a part of this amazing community. I am from the beautiful Golden State and I graduated from the University of California at Santa Barbara. I started teaching in 1998, but took a 10 year break to stay at home and raise my children, so this will be my 9th year in education. Before kids I taught 5th grade, 4th grade, and I was a Math Specialist for Fort Bend ISD. When I came back in 2013, I taught 5th and 2nd grades. This will be my first year in 1st grade and I could not be more excited!
After 15 years in Sugar Land, we moved to the Tomball area in June, and we are still learning our way around. My husband and I have three children. Kate is an 8th grader at Willow Wood Junior High, Chris is a 5th grader at Oakcrest Intermediate, and Matt will be in 3rd grade right here at Lakewood. (I am so happy to have one still with me!) My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. Mr. Hamilton and I love to go on walks. Kate and I love reading and watching shows. Chris and I love playing badminton and swimming. Matt will still snuggle with me and while he might not list that as his favorite thing, it is one of mine. We also have a 9 year old mixed lab named Candy that often demands to be the center of attention and who barks in her sleep.
First grade is a very important year in the life of a child and I look forward to helping these students learn and grow. We are going to have a great year!!
